Hi Sourath:

Of Course, you should make the installation guide steps : http://www.directfb.org/index.php?path=Documentation%2FUser+Manuals%2FREADME

or try with "The directfb-users Archives" http://mail.directfb.org/pipermail/directfb-users/

Subject:  [directfb-users] DirectFB/FBDev: Error opening `/dev/fb0'!
Date:  Tue, 13 Sep 2005 21:27:52 +0530

Hi,
I was trying to write a small C application to use DirectFB to create a
surface and draw a line on it on RedHat 9 machine, but get the
following error during runtime...
       ---------------------- DirectFB v0.9.22 ---------------------
             (c) 2000-2002  convergence integrated media GmbH
             (c) 2002-2004  convergence GmbH
        -----------------------------------------------------------

(*) DirectFB/Core: Single Application Core. (2005-04-14 13:07)
(*) Direct/Memcpy: Using SSE optimized memcpy()
(!) DirectFB/FBDev: Error opening `/dev/fb0'!
    --> No such device
(!) DirectFB/Core: Could not initialize 'system' core!
    --> Not supported!

I tried 'fbset -i' on my system to get:
> fbset -i
open /dev/fb0: No such device

When I do ls /dev/fb0 I get quite a few of them.

But does this mean that I don't have a frame buffer device installed or running?
How can I change the VGA device to be a frame buffer one if need be?

Is there any DirectFB configuration which might help the case?

Thanks in advance!
