What kernel version are you using?

In 2.6, pxafb deallocates the cmap at bpp == 16, so you get the above
error. (Probably, it assumes that since it is in truecolor, a colormap
is not needed). I guess though that the failure to get the cmap is not,
or should not, be critical.
Try it again at bpp = 8.
