Thanks to your reply. Yes, I have tried decker.ttf which come with directfb-examples and some other standard fonts (like courier). The result is the same. May be there is some minor incompatibilities between directfb and freetype2? On my box directfb has compiled with freetype libraries which come along with XFree86-4.5.
