Now avi files or mpeg files play but there is something wrong with the timings as the picture has patterns running over the picture. It doesn't matter is the composite of s-video connectors are used.

Any ideas how to correct this?
This is the output that I see on the TV
Oops, the DirectFB mailer removed the image, try http://www.linuxowl.com/images/screenshot-1.jpg instead

Try without the g400-clock patch. It causes similar looking crap here if I run CRTC1 at 1024x768. What's strange is that when CRTC1 is at 1600x1200 the TV-out is fine.
That's it!

Running:
fbset "1600x1200 60Hz 16bit" ; mplayer test.avi -vo dfbmga -ao alsa:device=hw=0.0 -fs ; fbset "1024x768 60Hz 16bit"
sorts out the corrupt screen and the TV picture *is* good.

This must be a bug in some driver, but which one, I suspect from my matroxset tests in the kernel.

It does *not* seem to be related to the g400-clock patch.

Shame that my LCD monitor only has a resolution of 1024x768.

Thanks
Duncan

Now to sort out this lock up after running a dfb app....
