Hi all,
Just wondering is anybody could test something for me because I would
like to eliminate a possible hardware problem.
Don't think that I've a hardware problem any more; installed Windows and
the latest matrox driver and the dualhead stuff worked perfectly. Think
that this is a bug in the matroxfb drivers.
What I need is somebody with either a G400 DualHead or DualHead MAX
and a second monitor to run the following commands and tell me if they
have rubbish or good output on the second monitor.
See this photo http://www.linuxowl.com/images/[EMAIL PROTECTED] for the
output I get.
modprobe matroxfb_maven
matroxset -o 1 128
Turn on the output to the second head
matroxset -f /dev/fb1 -m 2
fbset -fb /dev/fb1 "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
I get an 1152x864 / 48 Hz Out of range error on second monitor, a bit
strange, possible incorrect dot clock
fbset -fb /dev/fb1 "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
ioctl FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO: Invalid argument
fbset -fb /dev/fb1 "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
gives this image http://www.linuxowl.com/images/[EMAIL PROTECTED]
I'm pretty sure that I'm using the correct commands but something is
wrong.
Redirecting /dev/fb0 to the second head works. with
matroxset -f /dev/fb1 -m 0
matroxset -f /dev/fb0 -m 2
Reset the frame buffer back to the first head
matroxset -f /dev/fb0 -m 0
matroxset -f /dev/fb0 -m 1
/etc/fb.modes is:
mode "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
# D: 64.994 MHz, H: 48.359 kHz, V: 59.998 Hz
geometry 1024 768 1024 8192 16
This was incorrect should have been

Thanks in advance
Duncan
Wouldn't mind if anybody could give me some feedback. Found this page
that helps identify Matrox Chips
http://www.plasma-online.de/english/identify/picture/matrox.html
Should have mentioned kernel video line:
video=matroxfb:init,vesa:0x117,mtrr,scrollback:0
Regards,
Duncan
