I now have a 16:9 TV. The picture is pretty much perfect (or looks it) for 
non-interlaced transmissions. For interlaced transmissions (e.g. BBC 1, BBC 
2) the field parity is correct but every few seconds or so it reverses for a 
second or so. BBC News 24 is great for testing this because it is interlaced 
and there is a constant news-ticker thing across the bottom of the screen so 
I can see this happening!

I'm pretty much convinced that there is some timing somewhere which is just on 
the edge, i.e. every now and again it misses a field and the parity reverses.

So close but not quite there yet...
