No, the bottom 3/4's is blank/black. As Dave tried to explain, the top 1/4 screen has a corrupt thin band where you can make out motion of the video that is supposed to be displayed, however that thin band has garbled colors and repeats the garbled images left to right across the band.
That thin band appears directly after I modprobe the viafb module. It occurs regardless of the resolution or depth that I set with the module options.
