Hi all,

I have a SAA7134 based tuner card and run DirectFB on intelfb (Intel 855G),
without a dfb gfxdriver so far. I'm hoping to use the overlay capability of
the i830 driver to show a tuner window on part of the screen.

The only example I can find that excersizes the dfb v4l support is dfbsee, and
that one hangs in 'loading..' when I run it to display /dev/video0. Is that
how I'm supposed to use it for v4l; run 'dfbsee /dev/video0'?

For now, I'm testing all this on a Epia M10k/unichrome board, xawtv etc. seem
to work, but I don't want X.

For the other half of v4l support, such as setting and querying tuner
properties, it seems not easy to find a command line tool that is not
X-based. I got some help from the video4linux mailing list, but it seems to
come down to having to do raw ioctls. Does anyone here have a suggestion, or
a pointer to some place that may help?

Cheers,

    Rob
