Hi,
I tried building both X.org and XFree86 with the directfb backend this
week.
The XFree86 one worked fine, and works as well as the one I had running
against dfb 0.9.19, so no surprises there. (XDirectFB-1.0rc5 still has
some compile problems against XFree 4.3.0, for which I have patches, if
anyone's interested - maybe a new release of it could be made ?)
The X.org build gave me a problem though. It seems DirectFBInit is
being called twice, because I see the config file being parsed twice on
stdout. There is a short time in starting up, right before the second
parsing, where the output looks the same as for the XFree86 version.
After the second parsing, the output on my TV is turned off (I'm using a
matrox g550 with dfb outputting through the TV output if that matters).
I commented out a DirectFBInit call in directfbClipboard.c; this gives
errors like
(!) DirectFBCreate: DirectFBInit has to be called before DirectFBCreate!
(#) DirectFBError [XDirectFBClipboardProc - DirectFBCreate]:
Initialization error!
and
Could not find clipboard window!
However, it does seem to start up the X server correctly, allowing me to
start up X programs.
Has anyone else tried the X.org build and noticed this behaviour ? Any
ideas ? What should I try to fix this ? What would be causing it ? Maybe
X.org's server is calling the init from different threads ?
Any advice appreciated.
As a follow-up question - has anyone tried converting the directfb
backend to integrate with the upcoming modularized X.org release ? It
would sure be nice to make it an easy build :)
Thanks,
Thomas
