Hi,

If you just want good framebuffer support, I had great luck with the 
latest Via framebuffer driver from viarena.   They are standard source 
packages- none of the binary weirdness from their X stuff.  I'm 
actually using a Commell board with CN400 but it seems to work nicely- 
both to standard NTSC TV using composite out and using component out 
for 720p to my HD set.   Unfortunately it appears that you won't get a 
lot of the benefits of DirectFB if you run the Via driver- one layer 
only, etc.
