I cannot get dfbinfo to run, and I get the (common) error:
(!) DirectFB/FBDev: No supported modes found in /etc/fb.modes and current
mode not supported!
(!) DirectFB/FBDev: Current mode's pixelformat: rgba 6/0, 6/0, 6/0, 0/0
(4bit)
(!) DirectFB/Core/layers: Failed to initialize layer 0!
--> Initialization error!
(!) DirectFB/Core: Could not initialize 'layers' core!
--> Initialization error!
(#) DirectFBError [DirectFBCreate() failed]: Initialization error!
I followed the instructions in the FAQ to copy the given fb.modes file to
/etc, and I added the output from the first part of 'fbset --info' to it,
which is:
mode "640x480-60"
# D: 25.176 MHz, H: 31.469 kHz, V: 59.942 Hz
geometry 640 480 640 480 4
timings 39721 48 16 33 10 96 2

vsync high

Is there something I'm missing? Does the rgba mode not work under
directfb.. also, does the VGA card not being known have any effect on
this -- lspci gives:
0000:03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation: Unknown
device 0160 (rev a1)
(I know there are drives on the nVidia website, but I haven't installed
them yet...)
