Hi Kamalneet,

I'm really struggling with this now... it's driving me nuts.

when I start a directfb app I get the following message

       ---------------------- DirectFB v0.9.24 ---------------------
             (c) 2000-2002 convergence integrated media GmbH
             (c) 2002-2004  convergence GmbH
        -----------------------------------------------------------

(*) DirectFB/Core: Single Application Core. (2006-03-05 13:57)
(*) Direct/Memcpy: Using SSE optimized memcpy()
(!) Direct/Util: opening '/dev/fb0' and '/dev/fb/0' failed
    --> No such file or directory
(!) DirectFB/FBDev: Error opening framebuffer device!
(!) DirectFB/FBDev: Use 'fbdev' option or set FRAMEBUFFER environment
variable.
(!) DirectFB/Core: Could not initialize 'system' core!
    --> Initialization error!
(!) [11466:    0.000] --> Caught signal 11 (at 0x10, invalid address) <--
Killed

This means that the driver is not installed. (I guess)

For it to work for you you must have either

1) some parameters in your /etc/grub.conf
2) a different /etc/X11/xorg.conf configuration to me

could you check out these two files and let me know if you are using a
vesa driver or the fbdev for X?

Cheers

Jim
