All I meant was that if layer 1 sits on top of layer 0 (which is normally what an overlay would do -- i.e. overlay the graphics layer), there is little point in layer 0 being able to be transparent. So I'm probably missing something! It sounds like you can certainly use both layers at the same time but I'm not sure how or if you can get the video layer behind the graphics which is probably what you want. It might just happen if you enable the alpha channel on the primary (set DLOP_ALPHACHANNEL). Anyone else know anything about this driver?
