Hi all,

I'm rather new to this topic, therefore, please send me a RTFM (with
link ;)) if necessary.

I'm going to install VDR-system on a German computer called
"Digitainer". It includes a board from MSI with a CLE266 chip. I guess
you know about that since I found similar posts already.

I followed a How-To [1] but using Ubuntu Edgy for no particular reason
other then the fact that I just had a Install-CD laying around.
Everything seems to be O.K. VDR starts and depict a video on the TV,
CLE266 support is activated.

However, the colours are slightly wrong. It seems that yellow is
missing. Red is very strong and everything else seems to be pallid. We
tried nearly everything. Every single setting but without any results.
However, I found this Pixel-swap patch [2] and thought this might solve
the problem. But it didn't.

In the meantime I found that running vdr and softdevice without hardware
support offers me to set-up the Pixelmode. But no of the available
settings (YUY2, UYVY, I420) works for me. However, I had to set-up in
directfbrc Pixelmode to ARGB but the softdevice offers me just the above
modes. Is this correct, since on [3] I didn't find a relation between
the different pixelmodes.

I'm mailing to this list because finally I found the following which
let's believe me that maybe DirectFB might have the problem.

If I use mplayer it shows correct colours with both a DVD or a record of
VDR on my TV.
If I play a record or stream a record of VDR on another computer the
colours are O.K. as well.
-> Recording is O.K.

The OSD and dfbshow with a testimage depict normal colours.
dfbinfo gives me three layers where layer 0 is set-up to be primary.

After perform a "dfblayer -i 1" during a running VDR-session, the
colours are correct !!!! However, the OSD menu starts to flicker.
Therefore, I think that there is maybe something nasty with the
different layers in DirectFB.

Is there anything I could try?

Unfortunately, I have no access to the VDR-box in the moment and
everything written above is recorded just by Brain 1.0 and this is a 29
year old memory with high leakage:)

If you need more infos please let me know.

Thanks a lot for any suggestions and help

Torsten

CC. During playing around with different versions of DirectFB and VDR
DFB++ and the softdevice-plugin, I noticed that I cannot start VDR with
a compiled CVS-version of DirectFB. VDR reports a problem in core.c. I
can post a detailed error message later. Is there any known problems
with the actual CVS version for my hardware set-up ?
