Hi, I don't think there is a definite answer since this is still a work in progress. Several people is working in different areas for improving a DirectFB back-end for Flash files.
As far as I've tried, swfdec 0.5.x works as a stand alone player with DirectFB as back-end, but it still has some performance issues due mainly to Cairo stuff. However, I can confirm that swfdec works with DirectFB backend: http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=swfdec/swfdec-directfb.git;a=summary Maybe Kumar Siddharth has more info regarding the plugin for Mozilla, I haven't tried it.
