I know from experience that linking against a different DirectFB version 
is bad.
You should however be ok if the versions are binary compatible. This is 
the fourth version digit you may see at some places. The master - slave 
communication is done via shared memory structures and fusion, so 
basically these structures should remain unaltered.

Libc I don't know..
