I did some looking into compatibility with a G200/G450 quad card. I didn't find out much about the G200 card but did find reference to using the G450 MMS card.

I'm still a bit uncertain as to what I am to expect when using these cards. At the moment I have a three framebuffers running, one on my millenium card and the other two on my dual head g400 max. I still have quite a bit of messing around to do before I'm clear on alot of the directfb side of things.

What I want to know is, are you assigned four framebuffer devices to use when using either of these cards?

Is it simular to having two main heads with two second heads for setting things up?

Can I achieve static tty's on all 4 framebuffer?

An example is with my g400 card. I'm able to get a second framebuffer on the second head (not even sure where directfb comes in at the moment), such as:

Head one = /dev/fb0
Head two = /dev/fb2

fbset -fb /dev/fb2 "1024x768-60"
matroxset -f /dev/fb2 -m 2
con2fb /dev/fb2 /dev/ttyX

When swithing the the ttyX it shows up on the second head, however, when I switch back to a tty on the first head it automatically goes into clone mode and displays the image off the first head on the second head. This defeats the purpose of having the second head.

I'm not concerned with a g200 card not being compatible with the mga driver for X. What I want to do is run a seperate XDirectFB session over top of one, or two, or more framebuffers while working in a regular framebuffer console on another. From what I understand this is possible, since I won't be needing the mga driver for X, I'll be attaching the sessions directly
to a framebuffer devices.

I'm thinking without having a answer that these cards would indeed receive the 4 framebuffer devices. The reason existing only if the chipsets are close to identical, which I've read they are, all the way up to the g550.

It would be nice to receive some feedback from previous experiences. I'm building a new silent, low power system that only has one PCI slot. I'm about ready to kill my P4... it's been to long without silence.
