hi, this is pretty late reply, i guess. 1. .la is supporting library to .so(dynamic lib). so u can find both .la and .so together. But i don't the reason for .a existence.
2. For config file, u can create .directfbrc in $HOME. it works fine me. Even i dont have /etc/directfbrc. better go man directfbrc.
