My thoughts for a web front end would be for the following functions:
* configuration of options (simple and advanced) (global and per vault)
* End user search and retrieval of files

The second option requires much infrastructure to accomplish. My vision
is to have a Central LDAP server for the company. Once in place I can
athenticate users to the web interface through the ldap server. In
addition I have all the credentials for who owns what files as part of
the backups. the web interface would only present files if a user has
read access to them.

In the future the searches, might include looking into the contents of
the files rather than just search by name.

Timeouts may be an issue for large data sets. A user could request a
search and the system will queue it up and give the user a tracking id
or just keep track of all searches performed by this user. an email
could be sent to the user when the search is finished.
