One of the first things to try is running nmap; that will tell you
whether the port is blocked or active. But at this point you should
assume your Slackware servers do not have rshd installed (locate rshd)
and configured (it is usually a security hole) and that the port (222?)
is not open in the firewall rules. Ubuntu and Redhat both have GUI
configuration tools for this, so I'm rusty on the command line tools
needed. Of course, you will need to set up RSH for passwordless
access, and I don't know how to do that either.

There may be a few Slackware users on the dirvish list ... or not;
mostly Debian folk here, I would guess. So this is probably not the
best place to ask Slackware/RSH questions.

Your best bet is to ask questions on a Slackware list about setting
up RSH. There are a few people in the Portland area running Slackware,
so you can ask on the Portland Linux User's Group list at
 http://www.pdxlinux.org   .   Good luck!
