Have a look in this folder...
/media/hd0/backup/dirvish/server/a-home/home/shared-data/201000715-2200/tree
Also have a look in this folder...
/media/hd0/backup/dirvish/server/a-home/home/shared-data/
Your problem, as I see it, is that you don't seem to understand how
dirvish is laying out the files in the back up folder.
I back up /var/www/sites from my prod server to my back up server (every
night at midnight)...
On the back up server I end up with a file structure like this...
/backup/{vault name}/{DateOfBackUP}/tree/sites
So this week I have....
/backup/{vault name}/{20100711-0000}/tree/sites
/backup/{vault name}/{20100712-0000}/tree/sites
/backup/{vault name}/{20100713-0000}/tree/sites
/backup/{vault name}/{20100714-0000}/tree/sites
/backup/{vault name}/{20100715-0000}/tree/sites
/backup/{vault name}/{20100716-0000}/tree/sites
/backup/{vault name}/{20100717-0000}/tree/sites
If I want a file from /var/www/sites/myweb/index.html from Monday then...
The date on Monday was 12 July 2010, so...
cp /backup/{vault name}/{20100712-0000}/tree/sites/myweb/index.html
/var/www/sites/myweb/index.html
If I want the version from yesterday then...
cp /backup/{vault name}/{20100716-0000}/tree/sites/myweb/index.html
/var/www/sites/myweb/index.html
Does this help you make sense of it all?
I would also recommend you install mc (- midnight commander - a powerful
file manager). It will give you a split screen CLI interface that you
can step through the folder structure with. I use this tool all the
time and it's really helpful!
HTH
Cheers Don
