If you want dirvish to stay on the filesystem of the starting point (so if you're backing up "/" then only the root filesystem, and not any separate /home, /data etc. filesystems that may be mounted) then add the line: xdev: 1 The name is borrowed from the find command option for the same purpose. > Just tried backing up salmo-home/ and it failed: > > # dirvish --vault salmo --init > cannot open config file: default.conf Pointing out the obvious: salmo-home and salmo are different things. You probably don't have a "salmo" vault, so that's why the config can't be read.
