Those are two different things:
the GPSDO is a full GPS receiver. Its job is to give your X310 a
reference oscillator that is controlled by the GPS clock, a very high
quality clock, and a pulse per second, so that you can set the time in
the device very exactly.

To decode GPS signals in software, you don't have to use the GPSDO. You
can use different approaches, but probably you want to use gnss-sdr from
gnss-sdr.com
