Hi,

Thank you for that. It works file type by file type. I had already tried setting an environment variable (EDITOR=), and doing the update-alternatives, but neither seemed to work.

For the record, the procedure (for Debian) is:

to change default editor:
* open File Manager
* single right click a file of type .py
* left click on 'Properties'
* click on the pull down for 'Open with:'
* click on the editor of your choice
* click OK

It can be done as well for other file types such as .txt, .cpp, etc.

As always, thanks for your help!

Hello Barry,

If I recall correctly, the 'default editor' should be the default
editor that your Linux distro uses to open Python files.

There are probably command-line ways to do this (like
update-alternatives, for Debian-based distros?), but what I usually do
is just right-clicking a Python file and changing its default editor
on a desktop GUI file manager.

제목: [Discuss-gnuradio] Default editor for Embedded Python Block

Hi,

In GRC when editing an Embedded Python Block, if I select Properties ->
Open in Editor -> Use Default, how can I change the default editor?

Thanks!
