The first thing to try is
- quit GRC
- rm ~/.cache/grc_gnuradio/cache.json
- start GRC
- reselect the signal type in the signal source block (or delete and re-add
the block)

If that does not work, you might want to try a more recent version of 3.9,
installed from the PPA ppa:gnuradio/gnuradio-maint-3.9.
