I thought it was just me, but yes, the font in the new version was *heavily* pixellated (no problems with the contrast though). Checked both in ViewPDF and KPDF. The original one was very smooth indeed. This said, allow me to delurk now. I've come to GNUstep quite recently. Always had a historical interest in NeXT, I am one of those who dreamed to own a cube when it came out, but never actually came across one. I've been using Window Maker for several years now, love the user interface, and that's what gave me a heads-up to the GNUstep project. The real jump was made when the flash animation was posted to OSNews & Slashdot... I used to program, a very long time ago, and that's what I had always been looking for. Now it's been years since I wrote anything beyond a few lines of perl or REXX ; and as development is "scratching an itch", with the advance in refinement and complexity of software projects, I found myself not needing to scratch much and often finding what I needed already written by someone else. Back to GNUstep : I believe it is important for the computing landscape to have as many different environments as possible. Hence MacOSX, *BSD, GNU/Linux ; GNOME/KDE/Wmaker/*STEP/... This is the first reason I support your efforts. The second reason being the *step concepts and frameworks which, even to a non-developer like me, look simple and powerful. I doubt I'll be in a position to contribute code or patches anytime soon, although I'd love to. On the other hand, I could probably give a hand with testing, documentation and translation (french <-> english). Back to lurking mode now. Keep up the good work. _______________________________________________ Discuss-gnustep mailing list [email protected] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss-gnustep
