Ah,
the critical part is that the setup created by
. /usr/GNUstep/System/Library/Makefiles/GNUstep.sh
gets lost when doing su. And some packages of core appear already to
depend on this.
Now they all compile.
Now, I will try SWK Browser...

Thanks - the instructions on that page should have
su -c 'make install'
not
make install
for all packages. Eg,
cd core/base
./configure
make
su -c 'make install'
As explained, other setups are possible, but the standard, default
and secure setup that everyone
should normally follow is this one. :-)
