ldconfig seems to have solved the problem, maybe it was because I had an older version of ToyViewer installed before. Will have to remember that one.

Is this on Linux, and is /usr/GNUstep/Local/Library/Libraries in
/etc/ld.so.conf ? If so, try running ldconfig to update ld.so.cache.

Could this just be a bug when the program was linked?

For what it's worth, the GNUmakefile seems to do the right thing;

ToyViewer_GUI_LIBS = -lDithering -lPrefClasses
