- GAP - the GNUstep Application Project
The GNUstep Application Project provides a comprehensive set of
administration and user level tools to make using GNUstep based
environments a very pleasant experience. Part of the charter of this
project is not only to write new tools, but also to port existing
NeXTSTEP/OPENSTEP/Cocoa applications to GNUstep as well.
GAP will try to be present! However since I am its only member in old
Europe, it lies on me! I am still unsure if I can make it to Brussels in
2011, both time-wise and economically.
I will try my best and for the time being, count GAP in.
I offer myself also for a talk, but the topics should be discussed. I
did not partecipate in 2010, so some topics of 2009 could be digged out,
updated and reissued.
- teach interested developers how to write cross platform applications
or port Cocoa applications to Linux BSD and Windows using GNUstep
Approved. Since GAP harbors several example of Applications shared
between Cocoa, GNUstep and some even Windows, they could be taken as
example points for different problems (or even 100% port).
- share news about the latest development and plans on GNUstep
Although they won't reach any stable state, I think some flash updates
about SWK, Theming and the Windows theme could be given. All those
topics touch GAP too, so again, a talk could be interesting.
- code sprints, hacking, discussing

No, we didn't. We can also reach the year back, 2009. I bet most people
won't remember every detail of our speeches, but it is good to show some
progress, in any case.
Objective-C, the principal language of GNUstep, is currently the
fastest growing programming language according to

Always a good selling point. If you learn it on GNUstep, you may reuse
it on Mac or on the iPhone.
GNUstep has the pivotal role of offering a free implementation of the
Objective-C de-facto framework-standard "OpenStep" (now Cocoa). It
enables thereby free and open source application and framework
development while maintaining compatibility to recognized industrial
solutions.

GNUstep is a good match for FOSDEM since the target audience of
GNUstep are developers who want to develop cross platform (Unix,
Windows, Mac) GUI or server side applications or command line tools
using state of the art object oriented Frameworks.
