OK, done; I found I had to tell make to build it with Clang not gcc or I got 
compile errors, but that makes sense.

At the end of the build process it prints a message:

> Please remember to reconfigure gnustep-make if you want it to
> use the newly installed libobjc2 rather than any prior version.


Sounds reasonable, but how do I “reconfigure gnustep-make”? I installed gnustep 
from apt-get so I have no idea how to recompile or even locate individual 
components…
