Hope this help. Thanks Germán and Riccardo for your help and diagnostics. Germán --- the path was already correct, so it's kind of mysterious to me why that is not enough. Riccardo --- i followed your suggestion and put the "source" command (. /home/......./Makefiles/GNUstep.sh) in my ~/.xsession file. That must have been the missing piece, because now gworkspace comes up when i double click its icon in the dock. So thanks to both of you very much. Riccardo --- your suggestion of disabling gworkspace's dock indeed hides the two incompletely drawn icons (the extra gworkspace icon and the recycler icon). But now i don't have any recycler. That's probably ok for now, and i can try to follow your suggestion of disabling window maker's dock instead. So, i'll fiddle around with it some more. BTW, my main goal is to get a reasonable GNUstep environment running, and i don't have to use Window Maker with it. If there is a window manager with a closer fit to GNUstep than Window Maker, please recommend it! Thanks all for your help!! dan _______________________________________________ Discuss-gnustep mailing list [email protected] https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss-gnustep
