Just my thoughts:

I started to use github deeper recently and at the same time of étoilé github switch; for what I seen, it is easier to collaborate especially for the feature: "leave a comment on a issue/commit/etc", the system sends email to the people that are collaborating saying that a comment was done on a particular thing instantly.

This is fantastic to me, beacause I can avoid to launch my mailer, write a mail for minor requests/doubts, send it to a mailing list, wait the mail server to show the mail on the mailing list, wait for a reply.

The fork feature is great too, and the new gnustep ithem is on github too (my repo), so anyone can collaborate forking it and sending patches to the main repo. For e.g, on the the there's a branch I created named "dbuskit", it trys to interface the theme to the ubuntu menu server using dbuskit, following the examples inside dbuskit.

It is quite experimental and actually in "stand by" due of lack of time but as I said patches are welcomed. (The most complete branch is nssearchfield)

Hey guys,

With the recent move of Etoile to github I've been thinking about a similar move for gnustep.

There are a number of reasons for this:

0)
It is possible to check out and commit to a github repository using SVN and HG. This is #0 since it will be a primary objection to such a move.
1) GitHub is a very well known platform
2) it would allow code review of patches to be done more easily
3) we could host both the wiki and the website on GitHub.
4) GitHub users could easily fork our repository, reuse and contribute back more easily (we would of course still need FSF papers)

Please give me your thoughts on this. I think it's a good idea for the technical reasons I've given above.
