Indeed, it appears that the thumbnail service is called synchronously.. that is stupid, it should just go asynchronously. I never looked at how the service work. I also think that perhaps all this "daemon" thing that remains there is overkill, why not just launch and then quit? Perhaps it is thought that several thumbnailers could run concurrently in the daemon.. but this has no use anyway, because the "call" to the servce is blocking.


forgot got to add, do you have "Use Thumbnails" enabled under "Icons" in
the Preferences panel?
That was it, btw, the preference was unset, perhaps I reset preferences or something like that.
