Yes, it works for me now! The first app looks now already as it should.
I hope this fixes also the problems with WindowMaker on Raspberry.

Incidentally, you would observe the same issue for the first application 
started after removing the _GNUSTEP_FRAME_OFFSETS property from the root window 
(xprop -root -remove _GNUSTEP_FRAME_OFFSETS). And also for every application 
under WindowMaker when you set the GNUstep default GSIgnoreRootOffsets to YES.

I didn't check these details. What is still strange though is how the icon flickers before "displaying", but this is common also to our menus and panels. It is extremely evident on a slow computer, but remains very noticeable also on a more decent system (e.g. Pentium-M with ATI Radeon). I think only the Cairo backend is affected though, I will investigate this, not all my computers show this behaviour, even if they are slower, so I want to gather more information.
