I just want to be practical, github is known by a lot of folks, its very
popular that could benefit and its free for opensource, less burden to
maintain, and you have openhand on how you want to structure it.

Gitlab I don't know it, but it would require cost on your side, (maintain,
bandwith etc) and its not as popular.

But I guess either is better than waiting for weeks to make a change on the
repo.

ETA for the move?
