Difference between GWorkspace find tool and MDFinder ?

Hi All,

Within GWorkspace, one can search a file with the builtin tool : #f 
and save it as Livesarch (lsf extension).

Where is also an app called MDFinder which is using mdss files.

What is the difference btween those tools ? Are they redundant or 
complementary ?
