Hey Patrick,

I'm the original author of Installer.app.  At the moment it is unfinished.
If you would like to pick it up that is absolutely fine with me.  I simply
made it take .pkg because I wasn't sure what format we would ultimately
use.  If you feel like changing it, do so.  I would love to see the app
finished as it was one of my first many years ago.

So to answer your questions:

1. Yes, it was... we could try to implement a format for GS, or we could
use any one we wish or support multiple.

2. I think that is an interesting idea.  I would love to see that.
