sorry it took me such long time to respond, but I had to reproduce, fix
and find the time for it.

it means enough libraries are installed for cynthiune. MP3 is one thing,
other formats are other. One library (dependency) each.
I suppose you cannot play WAV or AIFF files in your Cynthiune?
I know the Cuckoo animation within AClock is a gadget, but I would
understand why it is dumb and I guess my GNUstep system could be
misconfigured or some lib or some bundle could be lacking.
does it log out to the console that it couldn't find an audio library?
I would check that you have the libasound, libmad and audiofile dev
libraries installed. I tried, at first I had it siled. Installed enough
libraries, reconfigured gui, reinstalled it, it worked.
