Not open at all. It is in a FAQ in a part that deals with transfers TO
register.com. I did not agree to the FAQ moreover.

Isn't that in many (all?) registration agreements? Also at other
registrars? (Sorry, I posted the OpenSRS one, didn't lesrn it by heart.)

There are companies here in Holland that give you a free domain plus
webhosting (for companies only). All you need to do is dial in through
them. It beats me, but it happens.
Anyway, if there is some sort of trouble, I had a nice gamble for some
dollars and just drop them. See it as a lottery.
