Not off topic, this is something we could all come across.

I assume this was in response to a transfer request? I don't know what
BAO/kf.cmn means, but wouldn't " LOCKED as per tm dispute " mean that
someone has launched a dispute against it alleging trademark violation?

Is he actively using this domain now? Did he never receive notification
about this previously? Or was it a request to change his email...which would
explain why he didn't know...? Do these disputes take over a year to get
resolved?

Sorry for being a bit off-topic but this is something strange here... A
customer of mine registered a domain at NetSol about 1-2 years ago. Here is
something he has just got, an email from NetSol:

"Thank you for contacting Network Solutions.

We are unable to fulfill your request due to the following:

Check_domain: domain <XXXXXXXX> is locked
8/23/99 LOCKED as per tm dispute BAO/KF.cmn
