"released into the namespace" meaning no longer in existance as far as DNS
is concerned - at all levels. There is no central whois server with the
ICANN/NSI registry system - it is distributed out to the registrars, each
responsible for maintaining the whois records for the SLDs that they
sponsor in the "legacy" root registry.
