They've finally gotten rid of that odd framed homepage, but now they
are registering domains that don't exist (for free, of course). Hmmmm, more
hassle
than it is worth Scott (Allan)? Fools errand?

>From the Registrars.com website:

Pre-registration of domain names is free, and it gives you a head start on
the registration of the new names. You will only be charged a registration
fee if and when your domain name is actually officially registered and is
active on the Internet. You will be e-mailed a final confirmation before the
domains are submitted to the SRS. Registration will automatically take place
as soon as the new domains become available in early 2001.

...and of course no listing for pricing which you'll be locked in to
should you be lucky enough to hit a name you want. They have one of the
most egregious pricing schemes I've ever seen
(once you add all the yearly admin fees, etc, etc)

With the exception of OpenSRS, these guys must all be getting REALLY
worried that ANYONE can register domain names. Any large customer of theirs
that registers 50 names or more a year HAS to see the opportunity.

(I can just see Scott and Ross glowering and nodding their heads gleefully,
yet with
respectful humility)

The trick for us RSP's is to be as attractive as possible to people that
prefer
to outsource whatever they can. There are lots of them.

Didn't RCOM go from around $105 in March to ...what $8 last week? (actually,
they were
down to $7.5 for a while yesterday)

OOOH! That's gotta smart.

Why in God's (or Buddha's or Krishna's or <insert deity>'s name is anyone
talking to OpenSRS
about their pricing model? It's perfect! Maybe even a little low (oops, did
I say that?). They
have the PLAN!! Setup everyone with a reg business, let them do all the
marketing and support,
take only what you need ($4 US) and offer a free and VASTLY superior
management tool for managing
domains. Be the hero AND take the market from Goliath.

Wow. I wish I was you guys.
