Hello Quantum,
Do your whois request against the whois.opensrs.net server. Or use a
command line client like http://www.bw.org/ that gets the correct whois server from
whois.internic.net and queries it also and prints the output.
BW's client also doubles as a CGI interface.
All of the registrars have whois servers. There is no one whois
server that has all of the registrant information. But you can always
find out which whois server to query by doing a whois on
whois.internic.net first.
