Hi Lee,
FWIW, I can't resolve reg.domainguidebook.com from my servers. Looks to me
like the DNS has not been set up properly (or at all) for that hostname.
Pinging with the IP address requires no resolution as you are specifying the
exact address. All that indicates is that the IP address is responding. It
doesn't tell you whether or not DNS has been configured to resolve the name
to that address.

Subject: [Completely off topic] host management woes under Windows 98
Can anyone help me out. This problem is driving me mad.
I have set up a host called reg.domainguidebook.com. Other people can access
this host, but it refuses to resolve using IE5 or Netscape on Windows 98 on
my PC.
I pinged the server on my PC, and got the following results:
-----------
Looking up 'reg.domainguidebook.com'...
Host lookup failed
WinSock error 11001: Host not found
-----------
But then I ping the IP address and it works fine:

Pinging 212.67.193.17....
IP Address RTT TTL Bytes Received

212.67.193.17 797 241 62
212.67.193.17 852 241 62
212.67.193.17 937 241 62
212.67.193.17 1107 241 62
Ping Successful
5 packets received/5 transmitted : 0% PACKET LOSS
Round Trip Time (in milliseconds) Max/Min/Av: 3925/797/1523

So what could be wrong with my system that it refuses to resolve
reg.domainguidebook.com, but can resolve the actual IP address.
Any help appreciated. It's kind of hard developing a site when you can't
view it locally ;-)
