no personal attack here.
as I said - namespace is misconfigured. they have no idea how to operate
a root zone. The SOA values within the root zone for namespace is
incorrrect, and the name.space roots do not list within the SOA - as per
the required RFC stuff. See for yourself - don't beleieve me - good god -
i'm only right.
example - let us compare - do the following on your unix terminal
dig @209.48.2.11 . soa
209.48.2.11 is one of namespaces root servers. You will note that the SOA
values displayed are not namespace but instead belong to the Old United
States Government root servers.
no - let's continue - do this
dig @209.48.2.11 . ns
you'll notice here that the results - i.e. the root servers are in fact
United States Government Root servers. This is a serious configuration
error. In order to display one of namespaces roots - you have to query on
of their tlds. example
dig @209.48.2.11 union. ns
The NS servers displayed here are in fact the namespace roots.
But let us not stop here Billy - let's move on to the namespace .com
space. Do the following
dig @209.48.2.11 com. ns
This will give you a list of name servers that namespace thinks still work
for the dot.com space. In fact most of these nameservers have been
replaced by NSI and no longer answer for .com and that's not small
patatoes.
Now I could go on with other examples of the negligence and clueless
behaviour exibited by namespace - but alas I feel the above will suffice.
Paul Garrin incidentally has been advised of this problem by myself and
others on various conferences and nothing has been done.
I rest my case
Joe
