Apparently Nameit.net even realizes it cant sell domains at 5.99/year. This is what I got of their web page today for RSP's (12/13/00) Cumulative # of Domains Registered Price Per Domain (Per Year) Buy Rate Partner Status 0-3 $21.99 Copper 4-11 $16.99 Bronze 12-39 $12.99 Silver 40-75 $9.99 AIT customers Gold AIT customers 76+ $7.99 Platinum I thought this was a real humorous paragraph that was on the same page: Opportunities for Profit The current pricing for domain names ranges from $70 to $119 for two years. N@meIT offers the most competitive pricing on the web. Our discounts are as high as 50% off the retail prices of our competitors. If you are going to register domain names, you may as well earn income for your effort. Best of all, our discount scale is cumulative, so you are not held to a monthly minimum. After you register a total of 75 domains for two years, you can earn $52 or more on every domain if you retail your domains for $70 (which is below the market rate). Of course, you could charge more if you bundle free email or some other value-added product or service with your domains. Even better, your residual income grows and grows year after year as domain name renewals come due. $70 -$119 Who are they kidding? I sell domain hosting for $130 for a full year, including a domain name. and there are plenty of places even cheaper than me. We may not like network solutions but I can't imagine any domain provider charging more than $35/yr. If they are its a blatant rip-off. Even namit.net sells to the public at $34/yr. (I'm sure the dollar difference is not a coincidence) Heres another thought: If you are a new rsp and you purchased 76 domains to get to the 7.99 price level the average amount you would have paid for the domains would be: 12.24 per domain. You would have to buy 82 domains to meet opensrs's 10 price. It would take purchasing 234 domains to average a $9 cost. You would have to purchase over 29,000 domains to average an $8 cost. To top everything off, nothing guarantees it will stay at $7.99 by the time you get there. For me the two bucks to opensrs are well worth it.
