As a reminder to everyone... WHOIS is a contact database.  It is not
designed nor should it be used to check domain availability.  A domain may
be registered but not show up in WHOIS.  Also a domain may be available to
be registered but still show up in WHOIS with contact information from its
prior registration.

The most important point: at the majority of registrars, including the
registry, WHOIS is *not* real-time.

Use the domain lookup function in the OpenSRS client to directly query the
registry in real-time for domain availability.
