I know there are domain names still showing in my RWI list which have been
transferred to other registrars. None of them have yet reached the 60-day
notice point, so I didn't know if renewal notices would go out or not.
After reading your message I guess not only is there no mechanism in place
to delete transferred domain names, but also no registrar checking done
prior to sending the renewal notices. (I contacted support some time ago,
and they said they were working on the problem.)
Now that someone has actually experienced erroneous renewal notices from
OpenSRS, isn't it time to get this problem fixed? Renewal notices (with my
return address) for domain names no longer registered with OpenSRS make me
and OpenSRS look bad. In fact, now that I know there is a problem I am
probably negligent if I allow the notices to be sent.
Since I am (sadly) not notified when a client's domain name is moved to
another registrar, the only way I know one has been moved is to check ALL of
them. I guess I'll need to check every domain name in my RWI periodically,
and turn off renewal notices for those that shouldn't be there.
Since OpenSRS is notified every time a domain name is transferred to another
registrar, it seems logical that this could be taken care of at that level,
rather than by each and every RSP.
How about it, OpenSRS, can you take a break from working on non-functional
multi-lingual domains long enough to clean up some glaring defects in your
core business?
