Hmm, isn't that a bit odd?
If a customer wants, say, 20 domains transferred, I'd like to be able to do
a batch transfer and have them all land in the same profile...

A domain profile must exist first (i.e. at least one completed order)
before you can place a batch transfer into one profile.
