It all really depends on who the administrative contact is; if it's you,
then there should be no trouble.

You can either:

a) renew with existing webhost, get domain transferred to another OpenSRS
Reseller after
b) transfer to new OpenSRS reseller first, then renew the name

I don't recommend letting it expire; it's too risky. It's tough to say
precisely when it will be available for re-registration, and it's always
possible someone else will get it.

If you are NOT the admin contact for the domain, you need to get your Domain
reseller to help you become the admin contact, and then go with one of the
options above.
